Procrastinating, and what it’s taught me so far

I've never been a very tech-savvy individual or hip to the social media scene, and I don't know how much that is going to change. I have, however, become addicted to reading travel blogs. Lots and lots of travel blogs (when I figure out how to link things, I'll put links to some of my favourites... anyone know how to do this?).

This activity (or handy procrastination enterprise) has done several things for me:

1. I've decided that not planning is the best way to go. One-way ticket to a still undecided location and vaccinations (plus a few other nit-picky things before I go).

2. The roller coaster of emotions that I'm riding with this plan is something that everyone seems to have gone through just before they went on their first trip.

3. I have backpacked with others through much of Europe, though much too quickly. This time, I take it slow.

4. I am a serial over-packer, and there should be some sort of support group for this.

5. I want to leave RIGHT AWAY!

Sadly, I must remain here for the next few months and continue to spend sleepless nights coming up with all sorts of lists, and dreaming wide awake of the adventures I may have. Now that I've let go of some of the pre-planning that was stressing me out, I have a new penultimate stressor: my OSAP loan. Now this baby isn't as daunting as many other people's student loans (I'm looking at you America), but I have a decision to make. Stop putting it off and pay the monthly amount, thus depleting my travel money exponentially faster; pay it all off at once, delay my departure and try to re-save the money for the trip; or pay it off, and take the extremely little money I have left and try to travel with that, maybe heading to teach English somewhere first for a year.

If you know me (and this will become glaringly apparent, to the point where you will ask yourself how you didn't notice earlier), then you know how incredibly indecisive I can be. This means that I will sit and think about what to do in regards to my loans, whilst surfing the web to see what the lowest cost for the next thing I think I'll need is (so far the list includes Kobo, some sort of Netbook and a DSLR camera), all the while deciding what of my stuff to sell and how.
